Crazy Wisdom in Ann Arbor, MI, USA, describes itself as a "bookstore about consciousness." Through the store, its publications, and community events, Crazy Wisdom serves as a regional resource for information on "mindfulness, healthy living, spiritual growth, psychology, conscious parenting, and alternative therapies, plus community profiles, news, and events related to Southeastern Michigan's vibrant holistic and conscious living community."

The second floor remodel, Upstairs at Crazy Wisdom, opened last year with a new Art Gallery, Meeting Room, and Celestial Lounge, offering live music once again.

Crazy Wisdom also publishes Southeastern Michigan's Conscious Living Magazines - The Crazy Wisdom Community Journal and The Crazy Wisdom Biweekly.

These publications have interviewed us about our work as both Garden Juju Collective and Gateway Farm directors. We wanted to share the interviews and our article on permaculture that they published. Read on to access the complete articles and check out Crazy Wisdom's website, offering a great database of holistic resources

"Garden Juju Collective"

by Hilary Nichols

In one of our favorite interviews, we introduce Garden Juju Collective and our Adapt Design toolkit, and share our design philosophy. We emphasize that effective land stewardship requires more than quick fixes - it involves a deep, long-term commitment to ecological balance. Our approach integrates ecological design with cultural and spiritual awareness, drawing inspiration from Indigenous practices and the wisdom of the land itself. By focusing on holistic, seasonal rhythms, fostering relationships between plants, soil, and water, and applying creative design approaches, we aim to help individuals and communities transform gardens, farms, and urban spaces into living ecosystems that are not only productive and beautiful but also resilient and regenerative. We showcase how Gateway Farm in Plymouth, Michigan, USA, is putting into practice regenerative agriculture, permaculture-inspired design, food forests and re-wilding. Since this article's publication, we have also produced a short documentary which shares a behind the scenes look at the farm's journey and a look at its future, "Gateway Farm Hub: Building Regenerative Futures".

"A Permaculture Perspective

- The Production of Our Choices"

by Bridget O'Brien

Bridget shares how permaculture principles can guide individuals toward more sustainable and intentional living. Drawing inspiration from Bill Mollison's philosophy, we advocate shifting from a consumer mindset to one of production, even on a small scale, such as cultivating one's own garden, so we can reduce our dependence on systems that may not align with ecological values. Considering daily choices - such as food consumption, energy use, and waste management - can reflect a commitment to the Earth and future generations. Relevant now more than ever, we want to remind you that our dollars vote! Conscious consumerism is one form of activism. By integrating permaculture principles into everyday life, we can contribute to a more sustainable and regenerative culture and future. Read more...
